Term 2. Entry 1. Presentations.

  I've made several presentations till today. I knew how to make presentation. But I didn't know how to make a good presentation. I didn't use to know much enough about making presentations. But last lesson gave me enough information that is very useful.
  Firstly, I should choose a narrow topic. Because if it is very broad it will be impossible to cover all information.  Also there are many ways to make it interesting, I can use several methods to engage the audience such as directing questions, stating interesting facts and examples. Visual aids is one of the main ways to make it successful. It would be great to use different types of diagramms, pictures or videos. One interesting thing that I have never used is body language. I have realized that it make your speech more persuassive. I used to be serious and use only very formal words . I knew that I should be with positive facial express and I can use more formal words and it will engage the audience. Also I can express much with my hand and eyes. Such kind of gestures show my attitude to the topic. My former presentations didn't include questions, checking gained knowledge of audience during the presentation. After this lesson I have been informed that it must be one part of presentations.
  As a conclusion I should improve my skill of making presentations and this lesson was a big staep for it.

Entry 10. My study habit and learning style.

There are three types of learning styles. They are: visual, kinoesthatic and auditory. Some students gets and remembers seeing and reading. Their learning style is visual. Visual aids are very helpful for them.
Some learners gets much more information by listening. Their learning style is auditory. Their brain will be very active when they listen. Lectures, discussions are very effective for them.
The last one is kinoethetic. This kind of students remember information by practising, touching, imitating or experiencing. Role plays, games, independent works give more knowledge to them.
I suppose I have gained most my knowledge by listening. So I prefer to listen and discuss with others. When I read something I'll forget it unless I review many times. Role plays and games during the lesson are also unforgettable to me. So I must be kinoethetic or auditory.

Entry 9. Working through university.

Working through university has got both advantages and disadvantages. I my condition the harm of working is much more than the use of it. Because my groupmates study better than me. I am managing to do homework hard. Moreover I can't do any job that requires knowledge and experience. If I studied well I would work in some teaching center. I a student of IELTE does very well doing some job that related to his majority is so useful to him. He could practise his knowledge. Otherwise it takes his much time.
Also choosing work depends on what job will he do, how much will he be paid. If he is to be white-collar worker well-paid he should work.
Studying is a great labor. So if our work do our study any harm we ought to refuse it. Because our goal from studying is being a good specialist in one field of life.

Entry 8. My reading experience.

Reading is a traditional way of studying. Reading is considered to be very simple. But is isn't very simple. The purpose from reading is getting some information. If you read simply you can not get enough information. It has got its own rules. reading must consists of three steps: previewing, active reading, summarizing.
In the first step(previewing) you have to look through the text. Pay attention to the title and boldfaced texts. If there are some pictures or charts you should look at them with a special attention. The purpose from previewing is knowing what you are going to read.
In active reading you will read the text carefully. If the text is big divide it into small parts. After having read a part take a break. if you come across some specific information, dates, names write down them right away. After having read whole material and taking a break review written informations. Read the first and the last part of the text. Usually the main idea is given in the last part.
After reading actively take a break and then summarize the information in your brain. If it is possible rewrite it with your own words. It will be very good if you discuss with your groupmates over the topic. It is very useful to answer 5w and h questions.

Entry 7. My note taking experience.

Bad writing is better than good memory.
Note taking is a significant part of listening. Almost nobody is able to remember every peace of lecture, speech or text. That's why I try to take notice while listening. During the instruction's speech I pay special attention to the main idea. I think writing down names, dates, places helps us restate the lecture. While writing them in notebook I write such kind of information with red pen. I've learnt that we should review each set of notes during five days. Writing down the first and the last part of speech or superlatives is necessary. I've experienced that most teachers asks the information which mentioned during the previous lesson. So it is necessary to write down.
And notices mustn't be so long. In that case student can't remember it. Reviewing notices is the most useful to remember. Taken notices should be reviewed every day during 6 or 7 days.

Entry 6. Advantages and disadvantages of tape recording.

  In modern study activities tape recording is widely used. Especially in learning languages it is very effective. But it has got some disadvantages. For example a student can learn the lecture with the aid reading books or listening recorded speech of instructor. Most students choose tape recording. Because it is easier than reading. Tape recording make the students lazy. Moreover when you listen it, it is a little bit difficult to concentrate. Reading book is more effective and easier to concentrate on.
  But in learning languages it can be very helpful. Because listening to the language being learnt is the only way of improving listening skill.
  Tape recording wastes time also. It takes more time than even the lecture. Moreover if you record the lecture you can't concentrate and as a result you will get nothing during the lecture. That is why I prefer reading instead of tape recording.

Entry 5. Time management problems.

  Good time management is the most important thing for the person who is going to achieve something. But many people can't manage to do all their planned works on time. Because they can't manage his time and himself. The following factors may destroy your planned works:

•     1. Most people can't sto himself from doing some activities that wastes time and money. For example a student is a football fan. Today there is a match between "Barcelona" and "Real Madrid". But by his timeline he has to make presentation today. It takes the whole day. He off course see the football match. 
•     2. Coming across unexpected problems. For example, I stay in the dormitory. Today I have to write essay  and do much homework. But unfortunately, the head of the dormitory ordered me to clean a planting ground. I can't refuse it. 
•     3. I you can't your work on time next day you'll have to work two times more. And if you can't do two days' work you won't manage to do all your planned works. They will be gathered day by day and you may be a little bit depressed. 

  There is one solution to that problems. You have to do a lot. Don't worry. Choose the most important and urgent one and do it. Choose and do again and again. Don't waste your time. Then we can manage and the problems will be soluted.
